Australia’s Favourite Glamour Circus is back!

There’s no more perfect combination of passion and people than The Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Festival.

The upbeat and friendly festival is held from 15 February – 3 March and features a wide range of attractions to appeal to a variety of audiences. If you’re considering which of the many events in Sydney to attend this year, this should be high up on your list.

The parade is perhaps the pinnacle of the annual Mardi Gras celebrations. Every year, hundreds of thousands of spectators from all over the world bring the city to a standstill as they cheer on a jaw dropping parade of over 12,000 fabulous people from all corners of the LGBTIQ communities. It’s held this year on Saturday 2 March on Oxford and Flinders Streets in Darlinghurst, and kicks off at 7:45pm.

This dizzying spectacle flows like a river of queer humanity, switching effortlessly between sexy satire and from high brow to sequined eyebrow. Tying it all together is an overarching sense of love and a joyous celebration of the hard won freedom to be whoever you are. If there was ever an atmosphere of fun, frivolity and partying, this is it.

The parade emerged after a night of political protest, and has since become essential in expressing LGBTQI identity. Expect flawless and fabulous outfits, loud music and an overwhelming sense of love, acceptance and celebration.

57 Hotel is one attractive option for Mardi Gras holidaymakers, located less than a kilometre from the city’s major tourist destinations. Enjoy the 24-hour reception that allows you to come and go as you please – perfect for those late night Mardi Gras parties!

Happy Mardi Gras Darlings!
